The sad news reached here Tuesday that a terrible tragedy has happened in Andy Wilcox family resulting in the death of Andy Wilcox by his son* shooting him in self defence. It is hoped by their friends here that the trouble is not so bad as reported.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Andrew Jackson Wilcox was shot by his son, Henry Clay Wilcox. Andrew Wilcox was described as a "high tempered" man that was sometimes "cruel" to his wife and children. Henry and his father had been quarreling earlier and when Henry left with a shotgun to go squirrel hunting he was accosted by the elder man and threatened him with a knife to leave the farm or he would disembowel him. Henry warned his father to stop but taking no mind, he fired both barrels in quick succession hitting his father in the right arm and then the face.
