From Story County Watchman April 6, 1900

DIED.--Friday, March 30, 1900 Miss Irene Harnden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Harnden of Pleasant Grove, aged 22 years, 4 months and 1 day. Miss Harnden was born at Pleasant Grove, Nov. 29, 1877, and joined the M. E. church at that place in 1894. She was an exemplary young lady and will be greatly missed in the community where she lived. She leaves her father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, and innumberable friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held on Sunday, Rev. Elliott, of Boone officiating.

Whereas; It hath pleased our Heavenly Father to take from Brother L. B. Harnden his beloved sister: Therefore, be it
RESOLVED; That while we know the hour of sadness will come to him on account of her absence we implore for him the blessings of Him who doeth all things well; be it further
RESOLVED; That we extend to him our sincere condolence in this sad bereavement, ever remembering that we are all traveling toward the same home from whence none returneth;
RESOLVED; That a copy of the resolutions be presented to the minutes of our lodge and be published in the Story County WATCHMAN.

--John Hill and wife of Swea City came to Pleasant Grove the first of the week because of the illness and death of Miss Harnden, a sister of Mrs. Hill. E. H. Harnden and wife of Battle Creek, Mich., were also at home for the same reason.
