DIED--On Sunday evening at his residence just southeast of Nevada John S. Thomas, aged about 87 years. He was one of the early settlers of Story county coming to this county while a wilderness composed mainly of prairie with a sprinkling of timber along the streams, living the past 45 years on the farm where he passed away. All the older settlers know him well and will be sorry that one of the oldest settlers shall have passed to the great beyond even though full of years and and at an age which few reach. He has a reputation for honesty and integrity and will long be remembered. The last rites were held at the New Hope church and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that point, under the ministration of Rev. Henderson.
