From Story County Watchman January 5, 1900
ONTARIO.
A young man jumped from the train going east last Saturday and was killed. It is supposed he was insane.
In the same paper:
Ames Watchman.
The man who jumped to his death from the Northwestern passenger train last Saturday near here has been identified as John Deneen of Chicago and his brother-in-law came here Monday and took his body to that place for burial. He was a laboring man, having been recently employed on the track improvement of the Northwestern railroad at Scranton. He was on his way home when he met his terrible death. A note book with a street number to Chicago gave a clue of where to find his relatives. Whether it was a case of suicide or accident will probably never be known.
