A Struggle for Health Ended.

The death of Mrs. Emily Abbott Burns is reported as having occurred last week at her hom in Chester, Pennsylvania. Miss Abbott (thus Nevada people remember her) left our city in the early summer of 1906, after having spent nearly a year here in a brave battle for health. She was a relative of the Turkingtons north of town and for most of the time of her stay here had her temporary abode at the J. V. Waldron home. She had before coming developed incipient consumption, and she came to appropriate the help offered by the bracing climate of Iowa. Right thoroughly she devoted herself to her purpose, conforming her dress and habits to the necessity for out of door air night and day, and for long walks regardless of snow, rain or even blizzard. She won, and returned to Pennsylvania in good health and strength, and also a bride, Mr. Burns, her affianced husband having met and joined fortunes with her on the way. She continued well till a few months ago when a hard cold roused the lurking tendancy to consumption and the climate of the Eastern slope did the rest. Her friends regret that she would not have remained in Iowa. She was an intelligent, interesting young woman, pursuing a purpose devotedly, cheerily, and lending a hand gladly to toilers along the way. She is remembered with esteem and her early death is regretted.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to her marriage record, Emily Abbott was born in Chester, Pennsylvania ca. 1883. She was the daughter of Henry Abbott and Margaret Stewart. She married Ethelbert D. Burns born in Chester, Pennsylvania ca. 1883, son of David H. Burns and Mary Broughton, on June 2, 1906 in Montgomery County, Ohio.
