DIED--At the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Lucy N. Silliman, Sunday morning, Alfred Newman aged about 83 years. Mr. Newman was born in Pike county, Mo., going to Illinois early in life where he lived many years. He was married twice, first to Mahala Seymour and after her death to Mrs. Emma Griswold. They moved to Nevada some eighteen years ago Mrs. Newman living only a few short months. Since that time he has been a member of the family of Mrs. S. He has been so as to be able to be around right along although suffering from a stroke of paralysis some two years ago, and up to last week when the preliminary to the end came as noted by us last week in the shape of a fall. Services were held at the M. E. church in this city under the direction of Rev. Austin after which the remains were taken to New Genessee, Ill., for interment beside his wife. Mrs. Silliman was accompanied by her sons H. N. and E. R. and their wives, and a daughter Mrs. Emma Wise, of Cedar Falls. At Genessee regular services were held and all that was mortal laid away to await the last call.
