From Story County Watchman August 12, 1898

KILLED AT ROLAND--On Monday evening Frank E. Armstrong was thrown from a wagon loaded with hay, because of the sliding of the load, and in falling so fell that both wheels of the vehicle ran over him badly crushing different portions of the body. His father, Wm. E. Armstrong, was telephoned and at once drove to that place reaching there a short time before the boy died. The body was brought to this city and the last sad rites were hld at the residence of S. E. Armstrong by Rev. Shrader Wednesday morning at ten o'clock and were interred in the Nevada cemetery. Frank was born in Nevada and was 15 years of age. He was at Roland spending the vacation of the schools and putting in a portion of time working in the Roland office at the time the accident happened. Any comments by us upon his standing with our people is entirely superfluous since he was always stood high with all with whom he had become acquainted. His father worked in this office several years since and again commenced here only the first of this month and for this reason we are placed in a position to know something about the matter.
