DIED--At the residence of his daughter, Mrs. C. W. McIlyea, in Ames, on Monday, June 13th, Wm. H. Fitchpatrick, aged 83 years, 5 months and 26 days. He was born in Washington county, Va., and came to Iowa in 1854 settling in Boone county, and in 1857 moved to Washington township where he has resided ever since. In 1836 he was married to Sarah V. Hagy who preceded him to the spirit land. he had three sons, Joseph A., W. W. and J. M. and two daughters, Mrs. C. W. McIlyea of Ames, and Mrs. C. S. Pierce, of Fresno, Cal. He was one of the oldest settlers of central Iowa, and of a sturdy and determined character and had much to do with the moulding of Story county into its present status, having repeatedly held offices of profit and otherwise, and always to the satisfaction of his constituents. His funeral was held at Ames on Tuesday after which the remains were laid to rest beside his wife in the beautiful cemetery at that point.
