From Story County Watchman January 28, 1898

On Sunday evening D. W. C. Beck of Cambridge dropped dead while passing from one room to another in his residence. His wife called assistance but it was to late to render any to him. He was one of he oldest residents of htis county and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves a wife an children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.
