Cambridge Dispatch: ....Ellen Amanda Holmes was born in Parkman, Maine, May 22, 1836, and died in Cambridge, Iowa, November 17, 1897, aged 61 years, 5 months and 26 days. She made a profession of religion at the age of 14 years, and joined the Baptist church. On Sept. 10, 1854, she was united in marriage to Alpheus Chandler, at Guilford, Maine. They removed to Cambridge at the early date of 1855, and at this place deceased spent the greater portion of her after life. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, ten girls and one boy.
