From Story County Watchman July 30, 1897

DIED--Tuesday eveing Frank Carr the six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carr of the second ward. The little one has been ill for some time and the physicians disagreed as to the cause of the ailment, two of them claiming it to be membranous croup and two diphtheria, and to be on the safe side the city physician caused the residence to be quarantined for the time being.
