Maxwell.
Word has been received here that Mr. J. L. Sherman died at the home of her son, D. A. Sherman, Rushville, Illinois, July 11, 1897. Mrs. Sherman lived in Nevada as number of years. After the death of her husband, in 1883, she made her home mostly among her children. For several years past she has been in very poor health. Last fall her daughter, Mrs. McArtor, accompanied her to Rushville, Illinois, where in the home of her son, it was hoped she might improve. But such was not the case and she continued to fall until death came. She was in her 69th year. Mrs. Samuel Flickinger near Elwell is a daughter, and Silas J. Sherman, formerly of Mullen Settlement, who was accidentally shot at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. J. D. Gamble, near Maxwell, Nov. 26, 1895, was a son. Mrs. S. was a good woman, a Christian from childhood, and a member of the M. E. church.
