SHOT.--Saturday afternoon the people of this city were more than startled by the report that Miss Lulu McIntosh had just been shot by a revolver while engaged in making the beds in the residence of her father. The weapon was pulled off the bed and in falling upon the floor struck in such a manner as to explode, the ball striking her in the abdomen entering and passing through the intestine known as the colon and lodging in the muscles of the hip where it was allowed to remaind an encyst and no harm is to be anticipated from from it. She was alone in the house at the time but Mr. Purkhiser who lives next door, heard the shot and went over to ascertain the cause finding her in this shape. Physicians were at once called and did all they could to meet the needs of he case. The special operation being performed by Dr. Winsett the others assisting. After ascertaining the extent of the injuries the necessary opertations were performed and she was fixed in as easy a position as possible and with the best of care will undoubtedly get around again as soon as nature can remedy the work of the bullet and the work of the surgeons in sewing up the wounds and the cuts they were compelled to make to do so. Very few persons so shot survive the wound and nervous shock which goes with it but a strong constitution and the best of attendance medical and nurse, it now looks as though she would do so. At the time of our going to press it looks as though all that is now necessary is time and close attention to the wants of the patient. The entire community trust that she may soon be around again and that it will not be a drag to her in after life.

DIED.--Some weeks since we noted the accidental shooting of Miss Lulu McIntosh and that the chances were rather against her recovery, and we now give the result in the fact that the end came on Sunday evening when the spirit winged its way to that source from which it came. Her age was about 18 years.

The result has been expected for several days but all hoped that it might be different but such was not to be the case. She was one of those whom to know was to appreciate and love, and all were friends who came in contact with her. None knew her but to acknowledge her influence for the good.

The funeral was held in the Presbyterian Church under the direction of Rev. Shrader assisted by Rev. Palm, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Nevada Cemetery there to await the cll in the future which all expect.
