James Thompson, father of Dr. Frank Thompson, of Cambridge, died at this home two miles west of Iowa Center, November 5, 1896, after an illness of only one week, aged 63 years. Mr. T. was an old citizen, having been here many years. He had long been a consistent member of the Baptist Church, and was a man of the highest integrity. He leaves a widow and the one son. The funeral was held in the C. P. Church of this place, on Friday, the services being conducted by Elder Bodenham, assisted by Revs. McVicker and Ferguson, of this place, and Rev. Clark, pastor of the U. B. Church of Cambridge. The Masonic Lodge of this place, of which he was a member, then took charge of the remains and he was buried according to their service, Dr. Joor being Master, J. W. Maxwell Marshal, and Rev. Ferguson Chaplin.
