DIED.--Helen Leota, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mcwhirter of Richland township, at their home Thursday, May 28, after a lingering illness, aged 18 years, 7 months and 9 days. The funeral took place last Sunday at 2 p. m., in the Methodist church and was attended by a vast concourse of sympathizing friends. Rev. A. B. Shrader of the Lutheran church in this city, spoke words of comfort and drew appropriate lessons from the life of the deceased. Members of the Nevada cornet band acted as pall bearers and particular lady friends acted as honorary pall bearers. Nearly one hundred carrages were in the procession and fully eight hundred persons were at the church. Many tears and expressions of sorrow betokened the loss felt in the community of one so young and so sweet in all her life relations. Beautiful flowers were brought in profusion by loving hands and the grave did not seem so dear for their presence. The heartbroken parents certainly have the deep sympathy of the whole community in this their incomparable loss and sore grief.
Mr. and Mrs. Mcwhirter would return their sincere thanks to those friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted then in this their hour of affliction, trusting that it may be many years before any of them may be called upon to bear a similar loss.
