DIED.--At the home of his mother in Marshalltown, Iowa, on Tuesday night, J. M. Speers, aged 25 years, after an illness of one month, from typhoid fever with complication of meningitis. Mr. Speers was of the firm of Speers & Wray, druggists, of this city, and stood high with our people. Mr. Speers was a native of Marshall county where he was brought up. About one and half years since he came to this city having purchased an interest in the drug store of Messrs. Rupert & Waterbury, and soon made arrangement for the firm as it stands at this time. After he had been seriously ill for some ten days it was thought best to have him moved to the home of his mother in Marshalltown which was done at which place he was as the last summons came. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in that city yesterday, the sermon being under the direction of Dr. J. A. Ward. He was a member of Nevada Lodge A. F. & A. M., and M. W., F. C. McCall, and quite a number of the brethren were present at the services which were under the control of the Masonic Lodge of that city. Mr. McCall and Mr. Greenawalt, of Nevada, were among the pall bearers.
