From Story County Watchman March 27, 1896

A dispatch from New Mexice by Rev. Shrader, received Tuesday, states that Rev. Milne, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of this city, had just died and the remains would be brought to this city for interment. They are expected this evening and the funeral is announced for Sunday morning at that church. Mr. Milne has been seriously ill with consumption for years and the change to that climate was made with the hopes that it would result in his getting well, but it was too late. The seeds of disease had been too deeply seated for even that locality. There will undoubtedly be a large concourse to show their appreciation as he stood high in the locality both as a man and a clergyman. His age was 29 years.

In the same paper:

There will be no morning services at the Baptist church on Sabbath morning owing to the funeral of Rev. Milne.

Rev. A. B. Shrader expects to reach home form California Friday night of this week, and will conduct Palm services next Sunday, Passion week services during the evenings, except Wednesday of the week following, and Easter communion 11 a. m., and sunrise praise service Easter Sunday. Owing to the funeral of Rev. Milne there will be no morning service.

On account of the funeral of Rev. Milne at the Presbyterian Church at 11 a. m., there will be no services at the Methodist curch at that hour. There will be service in he Methodist Church at 7:30 p. m. Subject "One Morsel of Meat." All will be welcome.

From Story County Watchman April 3, 1896

As we stated last week the funeral of Mr. James Milne came off Sunday at the Presbyterian church of which he has been the pastor for several years. The services were conducted by Rev. Palm who has been his successor in the the church, assisted by Rev. Horswell, of the M. E. church and Rev. A. B. Shrader, of the Lutheran church. The edifice was crowded to attend the last rights to the beloved pastor who had served the people so long. After the services the remains were laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery. He was a man who had many warm friends who will sincerely mourn his loss.
