Ames Intelligencer: The family of John Oakland, living six miles south, are suffering from diphtheria, one of their children was taken sick just before Christmas. A doctor was called in about ten days ago but of course the disease had advanced so that but little could be done. One child died a few days ago, one was buried Tuesday and another is seriously ill with the same malady....
