From Story County Watchman November 22, 1895

The Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Fountain of Nov. 14, has the following to say as to the death of Mrs. J. Q. Burgess of this city, which we recently noted as taking place at that city:

The long trip followed by unusual exertion, greatly aggravated a chronic disorder which had kept her indoors for more than four years. After several days her system seemed to rally and the many new found friends fondly hoped for a partial recovery; but an abcess of long standing broke inwardly and quickly exhausted her remaining strength.

Death found Mrs. Burgess fully prepared. Upon being told that here was little hope of recovery she called for prayer in which she joined most heartily; and then her request "He Leadeth Me" was sund by the friends who through the night watches had remained constantly at her bedside. When the song was finished, with a bright smile upon her face, she sank into peaceful slumber form with she aroused only to breathe a prayer for her beloved husband, that he too, might be led to her Savior and be prepared to meet her in that land of rest and perpetual day, "For there is no night there."

It was remarkable how many warm friends Mrs. Burgess made during her brief stay. To these she expressed entire satisfaction at coming to the springs and regretted only that she had not come sooner that full benefit might have been obtained.
