Ames Watchman
Died, Thursday, August 8, after a lingering illness, L. Van Dusen, in the 71st year of his age. Funeral services were hled at the house at 10 a. m., conducted by Rev. Douglas, pastor of the Congregational church. Nearly seven years ago Mr. VanDusen fell from a load of coal, and the wagon passed over his foot crushing it badly, Mr. V. would not allow the foot to be amputated and it never healed, and continued to grow worse until death has been the result. He leaves a wife and other friends to mourn his death. Mr. VanDusen was one of the old settlers of Ames, and had many friends here. The old settlers are passing away one by one 'till by and by they will all be gone, and only the younger generation will be left.
