From The Ames Time, February 21, 1901

Grandpa Elijah Eckard died at the home of his son Andy, southwest of town on Friday, from an attack of grip and other complications. Mr. Eckard was a man of over 80 years of age and has been a resident of Iowa and Story county for more than half his life. Interment at Ontario.
