Cambridge Press: ....Died, Mathew Switzer was born in Germany in the month of February 1823, and came to America when but a young man, his residence for the last two score years or more having been in this country.

Four weeks ago he attended a social at the residence of Thomas Jarvil, and on that occasion made mention of his unusually good health. He was sick but a short time, and passed into the great beyond on Wednesday morning, March 13. The funeral service was held yesterday in the U. B. church at Enterprise, by Rev. Hicks, of Ames, after which the body was laid to rest in the Ames cemetery.
