From Story County Watchman January 18, 1895

OBITUARY.--Amel Sanford Hogland, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hogland, agent of the C. & N. W. railway at Gilbert Station, Iowa, gentle and sweet as a morining zephyr in spring, fell little Amel asleep in the arms of the loving Savior Dec. 30, 1894. As a tender and beautiful bud of the flower just beginning to unfold its beauty and fragance, was the tender bud of God's planting and tender care. But the frost of the winter of death touched it and it fell from the stem to rise only in that world where all is joy and peace and love, there to meet the little one gone before and to await those whom it left on the stormy side.

"Weep not for the child, O, parent,
It has flown to realms of bliss;
In that land there is another,
Safer Guardian that this."
