From Story County Watchman October 19, 1894

Died, at the residence of his parents 4 miles north of Colo, Monday evening, Martin Carmody aged 18 years. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery at Nevada Wednesday, Rev. Cooney of Nevada officiating. Martin Carmody was born near Morrison, Ill., and when about 10 years old moved with his parents to Story County where he has resided until the day of his death. He was a kind industrious boy, and much respected by all who knew him.

Wednesday the Funeral of Martin T. Carmody, aged 18 years, a son of Patrick Carmody of Sherman township, was held at the Catholic Church, in Colo Father Cooney officiating. The remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery in Nevada. Mr. Carmody was a young man of promise and all extend their sympathies to the bereaved parents in this their hour of sorrow.
