From Story County Watchman February 23, 1894

Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Lake had the ill fortune to lose their infant child the first of the week. It was interred in the Nevada cemetery. Mrs. Lake and her sister are both seriously ill and have been for some time, while Mr. Lake is having much difficulty with his eyes and is under treatment of a physician for them. Indeed it looks as though the family were having their full share of affliction just at this time.
