From Story County Watchman January 19, 1894

Word was received yesterday by Mr. F. L. Thompson from Mr. Lew Abbott that his wife had just died at their home in Emmettsburg. They were formerly in the clothing business in this city occupying the room of the the WATCHMAN and are well known to most of our citizens. Their only child* died Monday night thus making it a double stroke upon him.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The son of Lew Allen & Gertrude (Illingsworth) Abbott was Allen F. Abbott was born ca. 1892 and died January 15, 1894 in Emmettsburg Twp., Palo Alto County, Iowa.
