Cambridge Press: ....John Cook was born Aug. 15th, 1828, in Lewis Co., central New York, and was the fourth of eight children, five sons and three daughters. He began farming for himself at the early age of fourteen years, and moved to Union township in October, 1855. He and his family have lived together continuously on the old homestead until his death occurred Friday morning, Dec 29th, 1893, at which time he was 65 years, 4 months, and 14 days of age....
