From Story County Watchman December 8, 1893

OBITUARY--Olinger: Died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Tipton John in Maxwell, Iowa, Nov. 30th, 1893, Elizabeth Olinger aged 82 years, 4 months and 4 days. She was born in Knox county, East Tennesee, but came to Indiana when young and settled in Carroll County. She was first marriged to James Brown, and after his death to John B. Olinger. Mr. Olinger and she came to Story county, and settled near to where Maxwell now stands in the spring of 1855. There she spent the remainder of her life.

She was a noble woman and was beloved by all. She was the mother of J. M. Olinger, Mrs. Tipton John, Mrs. A. Tutchard*, and Mrs. D. W. John. The funeral took place on Saturday, Dec. 21, 1893, in the C. P. Church of Maxwell of which she was a member, and was conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson. Her last illness was over six weeks, and her sufferings quite severe at times, yet she bore it all very patiently. In her death one of ther old land marks of Indian Creek township is removed.

* SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Mrs. A. Tutchard" refers to Amelia Amanda Brown who married secondly Reese Pritchard in 1887.
