From Story County Watchman December 23, 1892

KILLED:--The telegraph the first of the week gave the announcement of the death of Nathan Price, a former resident of this city, and father of Mrs. O. B. Aldermand and Mrs. F. D. Thompson, at his home in Colfax. The remains were brought to Nevada for interment Wednesday and laid to rest in the cemetery with appropriate ceremonies. He was well known to many here and all extend to the relatives their sympathy in this hour of trial. The following is the account:

COLFAX, Dec. 10,--Yesterday just about 12 o'clock, Nathan Price, an old man of 86 or 87 years, went to feed his sons mules, one of which was noted for its viciousness. While he was in the stable, H. W. Bliss passed along near by and heard him speak rather loudly, but thought nothing of it.

He came back in a few minutes and was attracted to the stable by seeing the old man's cane standing at the stable door, and went in. The sight that met his gaze is beyond description.

Under the mules feet the old man lay dead, his left cheek chewed off and his body cut and bruised all over ty the sharp shoes of the mule. Mr. Bliss called assistance and the body was taken home.

Mr. Price was an old and respected citizen of this place, and his death elicits the tenderest sympathy for the mourners.

Mr. Price came to Nevada about 1856 or 1857 and resided in Story county most of the time until 1885, when he moved away, settling finally in Colfax. He was a born pioneer and not content to remain for a long period in one place; but he was a good and worthy man. He was in the 80th year and was twice married. He left, besides his widow, Gardner, of Jewell, Kansas; Mrs. F. D. Thompson, of Nevada; George and Mrs. Georgiana Thompson, twins, living in Missouri; Mrs. O. B. Alderman of Nevada; Mrs. Blanche McClung of Troy, Ohio; Mrs. May Russell and Henry of Colfax.
