From Story County Watchman March 25, 1892

DIED.--Chas. Smith, at his home in Union township Thursday of last week and was buried at Nevada Saturday, Rev. Danner conducting the services. He was 62 years of age, an old soldier and worthy citizen. He was born in Ohio, March 25th, 1830 and has lived in Story county for the last 12 years. He leaves a wife and many friends to mourn his loss.
