In Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 1, 1892, Daniel Dix fell gently asleep at a ripe old age. He was born in Wilmington, Vt., Feb. 16 1796. He settled in Niagara Co. New York residing there for 56 years, where many friends will still remember him with affectionate esteem. He came to Iowa in 1881 residing with his daughters, Mrs. R. W. Liddle, of Gilbert Station, and Mrs. L. Outwater, of Des Moines. Seven daughters and one son (Rev. A. L. Dix of Alabama) still survives him, while 41 grandchildren and 15 great-grand children have played around his knee. The funeral was held Monday Jan. 4th, at Gilbert Station, Rev. Bartlett of Des Moines officiating. --Intelligencer.
