Maxwell.

A shadow of gloom was cast over our little town on last Saturday morning when it was announced that Sidney Bowen, son of Jesse and Mary E. Bowen, had died between 9 and 10 o'clock. He had been sick a little over one week only but very bad from the first. A fever raged all the time so that his mind wandered, and he was in a semi-conscious state, only recognizing his friends, but not able to converse with them in a satisfactory manner. On Wednesday afternoon a counsel of physicians was held and it was decided blood poisoning had set in and that death must ensue. Yet all was done that could be done until death came to his relief. He was a bright interesting young man and it was hard for the family to give him up. There is a deep sympathy for them thro-out the entire community. The funeral took place on Monday and was largely attended. The remains were taken to the Presbyterian Church at 11 a. m. The choir furnished well selected music; Rev. Nichol read the scripture; Elder Bodenham offered prayer; and Rev. Ferguson spoke fro Psalm 27:5. The remains were then laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery.
