From Story County Watchman November 14, 1890

DIED.--At her home, four miles south-east of Nevada, on Friday, Nov. 7, 1890, after an illness of two days, Mrs. W. R. Finley, in the 65th year of her age. He maiden name was Johnson, and was born in York State Dec. 19th, 1825. She was married to W. R. Finley in 1847. They came to Iowa in 1865, and made Story county their home. Mr. F. died Oct. 6th, 1889. They were good people and were highly respected by all who knew them. They were the parents of 12 children, five being dead. Those living are among the most respectable in ths part of the county.

The funeral took place on Sabbath last, at the Summit Chapel in Mullen Settlement, and was conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, of Maxwell. Although the day was very unpleasant yet the church was filled to its utmose capacity. Thus testifying the high esteem in which she was held. Peace to her ashes.
