For years the tidings of no death in the community has cast such a universal feeling of sadness as that of Alice, the beloved wife of Rev. Campbell Coyle, which occurred at their home Wednesday afternoon last, after a brief illness. It was only last September that she came among us as a beautiful bride, with all the graces of young womanhood and with the brightest prospect for a long, happy and useful life before her. During her short stay, by her pure christian bearing she became endeared in the hearts of all with whom she came in contact and all feel the loss deeply. The funeral will occur at the Presbyterian Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Folsom, of Carroll, and old friend of the family.

From Story County Watchman May 16, 1890

Last week we gave the account of the death of Mrs. Coyle and that the funeral would take place Friday. The sermon was preached by Rev. Folsom to a crowded house, not near all wishing to attend being able to gain admittance to the church. The esteem of the members of the Presbyterian church, the Methodist ladies and in fact the entire community was shown by the attendance and the floral gifts which was in profusion, and the following is a good description thereof:

These adornments were, besides choice growing plants, emblematic floral offerings, consisting of a pillow with the name "Alice" in immortelles, an anchor and a bouquet of lilies from friends in Fort Dodge; a pillow of white blossoms with the name, "Alice," from the Nevada Methodist church; a harp from ladies of the Presbyterian church, "Gates Ajar" from the young ladies class in Sunday school class; a star from the young men's class; a crescent from a friend in Ames; a floral cross and sickle, bouquet of calla lillies, a cross and anchor, wreaths and other floral emblems from friends, singly and in groups.
