From Story County Watchman January 17, 1890

Tuesday Mrs. J. G. Tanner died at her residence in this city after a brief illness. She had been complaining of the current cold complaint but nothing was thought of it until it took the form of pneumonia, after which all that could be done to relieve her was without avail. The funeral took place yesterday from the residence in the south part of town and the Presbyterian Church of which she was a member.
