OBITUARY.--Henry Edward Kuhn was born in Frederick county, Md. Juen 4th, 1837, and came, with his parents, to Ind. in 1849. At the call of his country he entered the service in the fall of 1861, as a member Co. K 52nd Ind. Infantry. He was a faithful soldier until discharged from the service, Sept. 20th 1865. Nov. 21, 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Elzina Apple, who, with eight children survives him. In March 1868 he and wife came to Iowa, and settled in Richland township, 7 miles north east of Nevada. There he lived until the time of his death, which occured Jan. 9th, 1890, after an illness of several months. His health was never good after he left the army, and no doubt the exposure of camp life laid the foundation for consumption, which terminated his life. He had long been a consistent member of the M. E. Church, and died a christian death. The funeral took place on Sabbath 12th, inst. at the M. E. Church in Johnson's Grove, the services being conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, of Maxwell. It was his request that he be burried by the G. A. R. Post of this place, but it was prevented by the storm prevailing at that time. He was a good and true man in every respect, and will be mushc missed, not only by his family, but also by the community in which he lived. Much sympathy is felt by the people for the family in their loss.

IN MEMORIAM.--We as comrades of Jason D. Ferguson Post No. 31, G. A. R., are again called upon to mourn the death of another comrade who has been called to that realm from which no traveler ever returns, Henry Edward Kuhn. Comrade Kuhn was born in Frederick County, Maryland, June 4th, 1837, and came with his parents to Indiana in 1849. In March 1868 he moved to Story County and settled upon a farm in Richland township where he resided at the time of his death. At the call of his country he entered the service in the fall of 1861 in Co. K 52d Indiana Infantry, and served until Sept. 20th, 1865. He became a member of the Post at the time of its organization, and has ever since been a faithful and devoted member. He laid the germs of disease from which he died while in the service and has always been a sufferer therefrom.
In his death this Post has sustained a loss which it can ill afford, and together with the community has lost an estimable citizen, consistent and upright christian and neighbor, respected and honored by all who knew him. His integrity was never questioned and was kind and generous to all, and he has now gone to his long reward in the full assurance of endless life.
That, this Post drape th Post room and wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.
That, this community be instructed to furnish the family of the deceased with a copy of these resolutions, and also a copy to the Story County WATCHMAN and the Nevada Representative with a request to copy the same.
