OBITUARY.--Died at his home in Warren Tp., Story County, Iowa, Oct. 17, 1889, after an illness of several weeks, W. M. Hardin, in the 44th year of his age. Mr. H. was born in Vermillion county, Ill., July 5th, 1846. His father and mother now live in Eldora, Hardin county, Iowa. He entered the services when only a little past 17 years of aage, and remained until the close of the war. He was united to Miss Sarah J. Blair, Feb. 26, 1868, who, with two sons, survives him. They settled in Story county, in 1870, where they made for themselves, a comfortable home. Mr. H. was a good citizen, and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of his neighbors. The funeral took place on Saturday, 19. Rev. R. A. Ferguson conducted religious services, assisted by Rev. L. R. Barr. Very appropriate music was furnished by the M. E. Choir of Nevada. The remains were then taken in charge by the Jason D. Ferguson Post of the G. A. R., of which the deceased was a member, and were buried in the Cemetery at Nevada, according to the ritual services of the order. His family have the sympathy of all the community in their great bereavement.

IN MEMORIAM.--We are again called upon to mourn the death of another Comrade, William Milson Hardin one of the first settlers of Warren Township, Story County. Comrade Hardin was born in Vermillion Co., Illinois July 5, 1846, enlisted in Company F. 126th Illinois Volunteers February 1st, 1864, and served faithfully with his regiment in the Atlantic Campaign, on Shermans March to the sea and the march through the Carolina's and Virginia to Washington; and was discharged August 1st, 1865. He married after his return home and settled in Story County, in 1870, on the farm where he died. During his term of service he contracted a disease, which a determined will and good treatment failed to eradicate, and a few weeks ago terminated in dropsy; and on Thursday evening Oct. 17th, 1889 his spirit took its flight to join the more than a million of his Comrades who have passed on before. In his life he ever exhibited the true spirit of patriotism, was a just and upright citizen, respected and honored by his neighbors and all who knew him. His integrity was never questioned, he was kind and generous to all. Full of energy and industry he accumulated a fair competence of this worlds goods and died in the full hope of an endless life.

He became a member of the Jason D. Ferguson Post No 31, G. A. R., February 18th 1884 and has ever since been an honored and active member. In his death we have lost a true Comrade, on imbued with the principles of Friendship, Charity and Loyalty in the fullest sense; and we as Comrades extend to his surviving family and friends our most sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement.
