Died on the night of January 3d Mrs. Mary Goodnow Ray wife of Judiah Ray. For the last thirty years we have followed one by one those whom death has single out to their final resting place in our beautiful cemetery but never before have we witnessed such univeral sorrow as we saw manifested upon this occasion. Strong determined men bowed their heads and wept with sympathetic women as they looked for the last time upon the cold lifeless form of one who in life was a general favorite among us all. Her mission seemed truly to be to shed sunlight upon all with whom she associated. Time in its rapid onward flight will work its many changes but it never will be able to obliterate from the memories of those now living here the remembrance of that happy christian character whom we all so truly loved for her many noble qualities and over whose lifeless clay united we wept.
