From Story County Watchman September 14, 1888

RUN OVER BY THE CARS. On Saturday about 6 p. m., as the eastern bound freight was passing Colo three parties desiring to go east walked to the grade to the east of town and tried to get upon the train while going up grade. One of them, Owen McNally, missed his hold and fell under the cars cutting off both legs. He was cared for as soon as possible but died in a few hours afterwards. His age was about 25 years and he had no relatives at this point. His father lived at Milwaukee but no word could be obtained from him. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery in Nevada, after a service by Father McNamara.
