From Story County Watchman November 25, 1887

DIED.--On Friday after a lingering illness James Green, aged 76 years. Mr. Green was born in County Maith, Ireland. He lived there and 45 years ago married his wife who now survives him, after which they came to this country. He has been a resident of this town 29 years, of which time he has been sexton of the Nevada Cemetery 27 years. He has always borne a reputation for honesty and integrity and stood correspondingly high in the thought of the public who have watched his illness with forbodings of the result and hope that he recover. But such was not the will of the creator and all that remains are laid to rest in the cemetery to await the call of the resurrection morn. He leaves several children as well as a wife to mourn his loss.

--We are requested to return the thanks of the bereaved family to those who so kindly assisted them in the hour of their sorrow as well as the long continued sickness, and in case of necessity that they will repay the acts thus done by any means that may be in their power.
