From Story County Watchman December 17, 1886

Col. Scott received word the first of the week that his son Ben had just died at Khamgaon, India where he was located as a missionary. His wife was also sick near unto death and may follow her husband to that other shore from whence no one ever returns. Mr. Scott was born in Owensville, Kentucky, but had spent the greater part of his life in this place. He was highly esteemed by all his associates and stood high in this community. One and all extend to the Col. and family their sympathy in this their hour of affliction.
