From Story County Watchman May 28, 1886

The Eldora Ledger of last week has the following in reference to the death of Mrs. King, of that place, who is the step-mother of J. A. King of this city, and is quite well known here:

"Tuesday afternoon Mrs. King passed away. Mrs. King's maiden name was Mary Tillotson. She was born in Bath, England, November 10th, 1839. She came to America and settled in Ohio in 1850. September 28, 1864, she was married to Dr. J. E. King at Eldora. After a long and severe illness, in which she was confined to her bed seven months she passed away in great peace on Tuesday, May 18th, 1886, aged 46 years, 6 months, and seven days.

Our acquaintance with Mrs. King was limited, but we have ever heard her spoken of as a very kind hearted woman, and highly estimated for her christian virtues by those who knew her. She was cheerful during all her long illness, and always met her friends with a smile. She was conscious that she had been a true woman, faithful in her duties to ther family and neighbors. She had prepared for the change, and so with a bright prospect of meeting dear ones that had gone before, without a pang she entered that world where pain nor death never enter, but all is one eternal rest.
