From Story County Watchman April 2, 1886

DIED--At Highmore, Hyde county, Dakota, on the morning of the 21st., Mrs. Hettie Lovina Learn Briggs, daughter of Dr. Learn and wife of D. D. Briggs.

Scarce ever has a community known a deeper sorrow than when from lip to lip, and heart to heart passed the sad intelligence that Mrs. Briggs was no more a resident on earth. Her sweetness of spirit, her amiabilities a lady and above all the beauty of her character has secure for he a large place in the affections of all who knew her. Her perfect christian trust failed her not in the last days and hours of her life, and although she longed to live for the sake of her husband and the little one and her other dear ones, yet she sweetly rested it all with her Lord knowing that "He doeth all things well." Her life was pure, her death was peaceful and her friends are comforted with the assurance that on the bright Sabbath morning whe left them she she eschanged the "Cross for the Crown" the sorrow here for the joy of the Angels there.
