DIED--On Sunday last, after a brief illness, Mr. H. F. Murphy, aged 63 years, of bilious colic.
Mr. Murphy was one of the oldest residents of the place and had filled various places of trust for the public, and at the time of his death was President of the school board. He was one of the charter members of the Masonic Lodge in this town and had been its Master several times. The remains were buried by the Masonic fraternity in due form on Tuesday and herewith we give the resolutions passed by Nevada Lodge No. 99, at their meeting on Tuesday. The services were conducted by Rev. Zeigler in the Lutheran church.
IN MEMORIAM.
Resolutions adopted by Nevada Lodge, No. 99, A. F. and A. M., at a special meeting held December 1st, 1885, in memoriam of Brother Henry F. Murphy, deceased:
RESOLUTIONS:
WHEREAS, The Supreme Architect of the Universe, with that "all seeing eye," hath seen it wise and best to take from amongst us and home to that Grand Lodge on high, November 28th, 1885, our much loved Brother, Henry F. Murphy, who for so many years has been the Worshipful Master of this Lodge, and at the time of his death its Treasurer; now therefore
Be it Resolved, That while we bow with submission in the will of the Supreme Grand Master, we solemnly mourn the loss of this our true and trusted friend and brother, that our Lodge will miss in him one of its brightest lights, one of its best informed members, one who made the tenets of our ancient order his rule and guide, that by his untimely death, stricken down at his zenith, we have lost one of our oldest and most faithful craftsman, the community one of its most esteemed citizens, and his family a husband and father, whose memory shall ever be cherished. The people mourn his death. An honest, faithful and efficient public servant has called away, one who was ever ready to contend for the right as he saw it, courageous yet courteous cautious yet firm.
To the family we tender our most heartful sincere sympathy and share with them theirs loss, and as a further mark of respect it is ordered that the secretary of the lodge present to the family and enrolled copy of these resolutions and that the same be made of record, and that the Jewel of the Treasurer's office, made vacant by his death, be draped in mourning for thirty days.
