Story County Watchman December 5, 1884

DIED:--On the 2nd inst. at Marshalltown Mrs. Sarah Putnam, aged about 91 years. She was the mother of Mrs. E. W. Lockwood of this place.* The remains were brought to this place on Wednesday and were interred in the cemetery beside her husband who was buried here a couple of years ago.

*Sarah Margaret Putnam was the step-mother of Phoebe Ann (Putnam) Lockwood. Phoebe's mother, Louise Marie Ensign, died April 4, 1840 and her father, Daniel Baldwin Putnam, remarried Nov. 25, 1842 to Mrs. Sarah Curren.
