From Story County Watchman September 19, 1884

On Saturday morning Mr. Frank Bishop received a dispatch from Spadra, Los Angeles county, California, state that his father, Mr. U. H. Bishop*, had just died at that place. Mr. Bishop formerly lived in this place and was well and favorably known and it will be with sorrow that his many friends here will learn of his demise. The family will receive the condolence of all in this hour of their affliction.

*In other records Mr. Bishop is alternately referred to as Umphra/Umphry/Humphrey H. Bishop.
