From Story County Watchman December 7, 1883

OBITUARY--Rev. Wm. Fosha died at his residence near Colo, Nov. 19, 1883, aged 47 years, 1 month and 14 days. Mr. Fosha was a member of the United Brethren Church since 1871. He has served the church faithfully in the capacity of class leader and sunday school superintendent, and in 1878 received a license to preach. In 1860 he was united in holy wedlock to his now bereaved companion, with whom he lived over 23 years.

He was born on the ocean. In 1871 he left Illinois and removed to Kansas, thence to Jasper county, Iowa, and in March, 1882 to Story county. Last May he was taken with a severe attack of dropsy and terminated in that dread disease, consumption. About six weeks previous to his death he went to his former home in Illinois thinking, perhaps, his old family physician could give him relief. But an allwise Providence seemed to have planned otherwise, as he seemed to succomb slowly but surely to the fell destroyer. He arrived at his home three days before he died. The Church has lost a most faithful servant of God, the wife an affectionate husband, the children a kind father and the community a good citizen.

He was highly esteemed as a true, devoted christian man by all who knew him. Besides wife, 5 daughters, 2 sons, and aged mother, and 3 brothers mourn his departure.--Their loss, however, is His gain.

He was buried in Colo, and his funeral was largely attended, Rev. C. Jacobs officiating.

A. F.
