From Story County Watchman July 29, 1881

DIED.--Sunday, July 24th, in Nevada township, of congestion fever, Ammon A. son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Ashford, aged fourteen years and five days.

Ammon was a bright young boy, ambitious and honest and commanded the respect and esteem of all who knew him. His sickness was of short duration, being confirmed about a week, and was not considered in a critical condition but a short time before death.
