Child of Barnett Brouhard (-1881)

Last Thursday while the parents were away from home one of Barnett Brouhard's little children fell in the well and was drowned. The well had a pump in it that did not work well so Mr. Brouhard had loosened a board so he could draw out water with a line. Mr. B. had gone out to the field to work and Mrs. B. had gone up to visit Mrs. Cory who lives a short way from her and left the children four in number at home. Some of the children say the child fell in but they were all too small to rescue it but ran after their mother whom they met coming home but before she could get there the child had been in the water about twenty minutes and was past recovery.
