From Story County Watchman May 20, 1881

On Thursday morning, Mr. John Hoel died at his residence in Nevada. He has lived in this community about fifteen years and is one of our oldest citizens. He was a Norwegian by birth and an American by adoption. For years he has been a sufferer from asthma, which coupled with some other disease, was undoubtedly the cause of his death. The funeral will take place to-day.
